Innovative Process Solutions for the Biodiesel Industry
Petroleum diesel is primarily a transportation industry fuel and is used in trucking, marine transportation, farm equipment and automobiles. It is also used in other applications such as heating oil and for electrical generation and in mining operations.
Biodiesel is a clean-burning, biodegradable, non-toxic, fuel substitute for petroleum diesel. it is the only renewable alternative to petroleum diesel currently available in sufficient commercial quantities to meet renewable fuels standards in US, Canada and EU.
Biodiesel can be used in its pure form as a direct substitute (B100) or can be mixed at any level with petroleum diesel as a blend.
Biodiesel requires no engine modifications and its performance is comparable to that of petroleum diesel in terms of fuel economy, horsepower and torque.
What is Biodiesel? Biodiesel is an alternative fuel that has important environmental and economic advantages over petroleum-based diesel (petrol diesel). Biodiesel is derived from renewable agricultural-based resources, including vegetable oils, recycled grease and animal fats, and has significant environmental benefits. It is non-toxic and bio-degradable with no emissions of sulphur and has significantly lower emissions of particulate matter, carbon monoxide, and aromatic hydrocarbons than petrol diesel when burned. |
