Conventional Processes

• Virgin crude oils require Physical Refining

(Refining, degumming & Bleaching)

• High FFA feedstocks (>0.1%) require pre-treatment of entire volume of oil feedstock to limit soap formation

(Acid esterification or steam stripping)

BDR Process

• No or reduced physical refining required (feedstock dependent)  

• No FFA pre-treatment required

( Low Catalyst Concentration (low soap formation))

• FFA’s recovered from glycerin

(Post-treatment (acid esterification) of smaller volume)

• No distillation required to meet blender’s standard (<0.4% MG)

• Compatible with existing infrastructure

(Most plants can Increase capacity on same footprint)
